Easter – 4

Shepherd and Lamb

Almighty God, merciful Father, since You have wakened from death the Shepherd of Your sheep, grant us Your Holy Spirit that when we hear the voice of our Shepherd we may know Him who calls us each by name and follow where He leads; through the same Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen!

A Mother’s Love

Gracious Father, on this day when we celebrate our Mothers’ love, may we see in their desire to protect us from every danger, a compassion that is willing to risk life and limb for the sake of their child. And in this sheltering protection and compassion, send Your Holy Spirit to help us better understand and appreciate Jesus’ love for us. We ask in His name. Amen!

Jesus is the only way to salvation; as His sheep, we look only to Him and listen for His loving voice alone. What a contrast there is between a thief, who would never use the door properly and brings only destruction, and Jesus, the Door, who brings abundant life.
